Get ready to Wob – a new hairstyle

Posted by Maggie on Sat, Dec 20th, 2014
We are sure you heard about the lob and obviously about the classic bob. Now, however, we would like you to welcome a new kid on the block that is sweeping through Hollywood and is very wearable and versatile. If you haven't guessed it yet, let us give you a head-up: wob is a wavy bob that is flattering on almost any face, softening any harsh facial features and bringing out your feminine side without making you look too hippie. We give you the best and freshest wobs for you to pin and try out!
Jennifer Lawrence's classic wob
Jennifer Lawrence's classic wob
Jennifer is our trendsetter as far the wob goes. She almost single-handedly promoted the hairstyle to its ubiquitousness. Her variation is almost a classic now with hair layered at the ends and softly framing the face with gentle waves. The centre part adds even more simplicity to this do that is suitable for almost any occasion. Are you willing to try it out this season?

Haley Berry's wob with bangs
Haley Berry's wob with bangs
Haley has been walking us through her hair transformation and we are loving every step of it. Lately, she has been showing off a perfect example of a wob with an added twist in the form of the eye-grazing and side swept bangs. Make note of how her hair is curled back at the front. This little trick really opens up your face and it is especially flattering for those of us with oval and long shaped faces. The length, just an inch under the jawline helps to shorten your face a little and show the world your best look.

Julianne Hough's well textured wob
Julianne Hough's well textured wob
Julianne has been recently trying to grow out her pixie, and we suspect that she had a bit of help in the form of hair extensions. But, since we are really loving the results, we do not care how she achieved it, we just want to steal it! The key to copying this particular wob is in the cut. At first glance, you might think that the texture was achieved solely by the waves, but if you take a closer look you can see that her haircut is a result of a very careful layering process which really allows the hairstyle to bring on the wavy texture. The good news it that when your stylist does recreate this cut faithfully, it will only take you minutes to come up with similar results at home. Are you inspired yet?

Beyonce's blunt wob

The world-famous hair chameleon, Beyonce has embraced the wob recently as well, albeit very briefly. Her version seems to be the least high maintenance of all the wobs that we talked about today. The cut is very blunt and the hair is left almost curly. This version of wob is very symmetrical, the impression heightened by the centre part and the consistent colour throughout. Only the roots are a bit darker, giving some depth to the whole hairstyle.
