The best and the worst hairstyles of Golden globes awards 2015
Posted by Maggie on Wed, Jan 28th, 2015
This year Golden Globes were, as always, full of glamorous and beautiful celebrities, but, as always, there were some hiccups as well. We are giving you our awards in different hair categories, so get ready to be amazed!
1)
Best long hair – Jessica Chastain and Amal Clooney
Best long hair – Jessica Chastain and Amal Clooney

We have a tie in the best long hair category. We honestly cannot decide between immaculately styled old Hollywood waves that Jessica Chastain was sporting, and luxurious and rich locks of the Golden Globes newbie, a.k.a. Amal Clooney. We absolutely love how perfect, no-hair-out-of-place Jessica's do is, from a slight flip of her bangs to the one shoulder styled waves. And obviously we can write poems about her wonderful copper colour. Amal was on the other side of the spectrum, with her hair looking very natural and untamed and very shiny at the same time. It seems that the simplicity of a side part and a finger-combed texture are just enough for the red carpet. Well done Amal!
Worst long hair – Diane Kruger

Although we usually love Diane's style this time we were very disappointed with her red carpet look. Her hair was lifelessly hanging down her back, the parting just seem awfully flat and made her look as if she just got out of the shower. We are all for natural look, but only as long as it is flattering.

2)
Best updo – Jennifer Aniston
Best updo – Jennifer Aniston

Jennifer is no doubt one of our all time inspirations and we are glad to see that she didn't disappoint us this time. Her as always perfectly highlighted hair was put up in an adorable bun that showed off the gorgeous neckline of her dress. Jennifer's long hair was twisted and pulled up, the ends peeking out of the bun. We love how nice and polished this hairdo is, without looking too stuffed up.
Worst updo – Keira Knightley

Normally we love the ethereal beauty of the British actress, but this time she left us unsatisfied with her looks. Neither hair nor the dress were worth a second glance. Instead of looking feminine and soft, her hair just looked messy and dishevelled, as if she did it in a hurry without looking in the mirror twice. We hope that this was just a momentary slip and we are looking forward to seeing the Keira that we know and love.

3)
Best braids – Emily Blunt
Best braids – Emily Blunt

Admittedly, we have been on a sort of braid overload recently but we are still suckers for a good one when it appears. And it did! Emily Blunt's hair was styled in an absolutely perfect romantic braid that showed of her beautiful cheekbones and had just the right amount of loose hair so that it did not look too rigid but magically softened her features. If you are looking for a wedding or a date braid-spiration, this is the one to pin!
Worst braid – Joanne Froggat

We adore Joanne in Downton Abbey and we are sure that the award she went home with was well deserved for all the misery that Anna was made to go through in the series, but we wish we were spared the misery of Joanne's hair. In a word – too much milkmaid slash Heidi, too little glamour. With her lovely face and her wispy blond hair we would like to see Joanne in a more subtle hairdo next time.

4)
Best wob – Sienna Miller
Best wob – Sienna Miller

If you haven't heard of a wob yet, you need to step up your hair game a bit! Wob is a wavy lob, the absolute hit of recent months, with Sienna Miller setting the wob bar really high. The key to pulling off a perfect wob is the length and the texture and Sienna hit it just right with her front slightly longer than the back, emphasised by the deep parting. As for the texture, the gentle, soft waves and the ends casually flipped out are exactly what we are looking for in this carefree hairstyle. A top of the range wob!
Worst wob – Zosia Mamet

Zosia seems to have been looking hard for her style recently, experimenting with length and colour but, heads up, Zosia – you took the wrong turn with this do. The grey colour makes her look washed out and the hairstyle would be more appropriate for a middle-aged business woman. Although Zosia might be trying to hop on the wob wagon, there is still a long way for her to go. We suggest she start with sorting out her front, since it looks as if she used too much hair gel and dried her hair letting it harden with the strange raised bangs. Better luck next time, we hope!

5)
Best bob – Rosamund Pike
Best bob – Rosamund Pike

Razor sharp and with clean lines, that is how we like our bob and we are glad to see the perfection epitomised by Rosamund Pike. This no-nonsense yet feminine hair do will never look out of place and, provided that you have the right cut, it takes so little effort to style it and dazzle the world.
Worst bob – Alison Williams

Okay, so we are cheating a bit in this category, as Alison's is a faux bob, still, we do not have much good to say about it. Her hair looks too flat and too much like a wig held in place with a tonne of hairspray and that's not the best look on anyone. We hope that next time we see Alison in a more flattering do.

6)
Best short hair – Lupita Nyongo
Best short hair – Lupita Nyongo

We missed the quirky little hairstyles that Lupita was dropping on us like super-cool hairstyle bombs so we are glad to see that she is back in full swing. This time she seems to have grown her pixie out a bit, the hair is styled up and away from her face and slightly trimmed at the side with a full head on top. Simple but pretty, just as we like it!
Worst short hair – Maggie Gyllenhaal

No one loves a pixie more than us, but what Maggie presented this year is definitely not a pixie pin material. Too much messiness, not enough style is what we have to say about it. The back seems to be in need of a trim and the front is just all over the place in a not so flattering chaos. There is so much potential in her hairdo though, that we hope she finds a better way to show it off.
